British writer-director Luna Carmoon draws on her own life for this visceral psychological drama; an audacious, bracingly unusual feature debut that announces her as a talent to watch. Powered by committed performances from its terrific cast, the film follows Maria, starting with her South East London childhood living with her mother, Cynthia, an obsessive hoarder. Years later when she meets Michael, a troubled young man, they develop an intense and animalistic bond as she attempts to process her traumatic past.
