Novels have been a constant source of material since the earliest days of cinema when filmmakers were quick to realise the potential of classic literature. Many books are gifts that keep on giving but the question of whether a film lives up to a book is a bone of contention waiting to be chewed on. In this course we’ll be looking at a number of writers and genres, from classic to pulp, to see how successfully they’ve transferred to the big screen, including Dangerous Liaisons, The Talented Mr Ripley and Frankenstein.
