It’s 1942 in occupied France. Jewish refugee Georg is unexpectedly awarded a transit visa when he is mistaken for a famous author. Realising the man has recently died, he assumes his identity and flees to the port of Marseille – only to find the visa wasn’t the only thing the writer had left behind.
