There has never been another showbiz career like that of actor, writer, director and occasional spokesperson for frozen peas, Orson Welles. Without Welles, the histories of radio, theatre and, of course, cinema would look very different. His debut film Citizen Kane is still regularly voted as amongst the greatest of all time, more often than not topping the poll. His innovations - and those of his equally talented collaborators - continue to inspire filmmakers, generations later. As an actor too, he possessed a unique power and gravitas that was put to potent use across dramas, comedies, thrillers and, yes, commercials. But it was also a career marked by a sense of promise not entirely fulfilled, at least in some eyes. Of projects unfinished, or transformed against his wishes.

Over ten weeks, we'll look at the projects that made it, the projects that didn't, and the many faces of Orson Welles.
