Double-bill: Candyman (1992 & 2021)

The original Candyman asks who created urban legends; the 2021 sequel asks who is erased from history and what stories survive that erasure. The campfire tale of the ‘Candyman’ explores trauma, holds up a mirror to society and tells stories of all too-realistic injustices that happened in Cabrini Green. Chicago’s architecture and equally rich Black heritage serve as a backdrop to setting and subtext alike.

Tony Todd is widely regarded as one of THE Black horror household names, and this Candyman double-bill is a wonderful way to honour his legacy this Black History Month. 

There will be a 30 minute interval between films.
