William Friedkin’s adaptation of William Peter Blatty’s novel is widely considered the greatest horror film ever made. The cinematic nightmare of demonic possession stars Linda Blair as 12-year-old Regan, whose suddenly violent, abusive behaviour causes her mother to seek spiritual help. The production was famously plagued by injuries, unusual accidents and even death, all of which led to excessive delays to the schedule and ballooning of the budget, leading many to believe the film itself is cursed.
