As part of our 35th anniversary celebrations, we’re delighted to present a very special gala screening of one of the films that looms largest in Broadway’s history (spot the signed quad that currently hangs in the Mezz…). All the way back in 1992, we hosted then-largely-unknown director Quentin Tarantino to introduce a screening of his debut film, Reservoir Dogs, as part of crime, mystery and thriller festival Shots in the Dark.
Of course, Tarantino would go on to be one of the biggest directors of the nineties – and would return to Broadway to preview Pulp Fiction in 1994, bringing the reel on the plane from Cannes himself, complete with French subtitles.
This one-off screening of Reservoir Dogs will feature a Q&A with current Broadway staff and Board members about the history of Broadway and Tarantino's two visits in the early nineties. Expect some unheard stories and reminisces from Broadway's inception and challenging first few years.
Part of the proceeds from this screening will go towards making it possible for us to continue to be that cinema that brings our community together, that cinema that tells stories from around the world, and that cinema at the centre of Nottingham culture.
