Four Mothers

Edward (James McArdle, in a break-out role), a queer up-and-coming novelist, juggles work with caring for his elderly mother. On the brink of finally achieving literary success, three of his closest friends suddenly depart for an impromptu Pride holiday, leaving their ageing mothers in Edward’s care, causing chaos. A perceptive look at mother and son dynamics and singledom, director Darren Thornton’s film manages to be moving, heartwarming, political and very funny.
