In the infamous MACA prison, one inmate rules the rest of the population. When a newcomer arrives, he is almost immediately anointed “Roman” by the reigning king, Blackbeard, and tasked to entertain the inmates with his storytelling. But the king is sick and tensions are rising within MACA, and soon Roman realises, that much like Scheherezade, he must sustain his tale through the night if he wishes to survive and keep chaos at bay. NIGHT OF THE KINGS is a bold, imaginative and truly original film, that paints a complex portrait of life in prison and pays tribute to the Ivorian tradition of storytelling.
