Fräulein von Bernburg is an empathetic teacher at an all-girls boarding school. When new student Manuela starts to fall in love with her kindly tutor, pupil and teacher soon discover that their feelings are mutual.

An absolute classic of lesbian cinema, Mädchen in Uniform was banned for years, branded as ‘decadent’ by the Nazi regime, which reportedly tried to burn all existing prints of the film. Luckily by that time, several had already been dispersed across the world.

Now available to screen digitally for the first time, we’re proud to present the film for LGBT+ History Month with an introduction by writer and activist So Mayer.

Screening for LGBT+ History Month

Please note: depending on the circumstances nearer the time, this introduction will be either in person or remote.
