The only way scientist Alma can get her research funded is by taking part in an experiment which would see her spend three weeks living with a humanoid robot, designed to become her ideal life partner. She is assigned Tom, a handsome, very human-like robot with a British accent. He is seemingly perfect in every way but Alma is beyond reluctant to engage fully in the trial. Maria Schrader delivers a rom-com with an amusingly unnatural twist that explores the notions of love, longing, and being human with much depth and feeling.
