Opportunity for 18-25 year olds to attend Venice Film Festival

Want to attend the Venice Film Festival this year as an Ambassador?

Apply by midday on Thursday 16 May to take part in the 28 Times Cinema competition!

 

A little information...

28 TIMES CINEMA* invites YOU, young European film lovers to apply for the chance to attend the prestigious Venice Film Festival 2019 as one of 28 Jury Members (one participant per member state of the European Union) for the Giornate degli Autori selection.

 

Since 2010, this fantastic initiative from Europa Cinemas - in collaboration with the LUX Prize (European Parliament) and Giornate degli Autori - has given young film enthusiasts from all over Europe the opportunity to attend the Venice Film Festival as members of the Giornate degli Autori Jury, and Ambassadors for their countries.

 

Who can participate?

Film lovers aged between 18 and 25 with:

  • Excellent English skills (reading, written and spoken) to actively take part in the discussions around the films with film professionals
  • Strong writing abilities in order to contribute to articles and blogs

 

How do you apply?

Send your completed application form and video-selfie to marketing@broadway.org.uk by Wednesday 15 May.

 

The video-selfie must explain "What does s/he or they love in cinema". S/he or they should start the video saying "What I love about cinema is..." and then develop argumentation.

 

Technical requirements are:

  • In high resolution (Full HD: 1920x1080 px) and with an excellent audio recording
  • Duration of 30 seconds, maximum.
  • The following information should be visible on the video: Name and country of origin.
  • The video should be sent to marketing@broadway.org.uk via WeTransfer.

 

This video will help 28 Times Cinema to see how you express yourself in English and your ability to “talk” about cinema. High quality and creativity are required! To see some examples of successful applications, view 28 Times Cinema Vimeo channel here.

 

 

What happens if you're chosen as an Ambassador?

If you are shortlisted by us we will share your video-selfie and put you forward for this opportunity.

 

What happens after that?

  • Attend the Venice Film Festival from Tuesday 27th of August to Sunday 8th September 2019, with free travel and accommodation provided and your daily costs covered.
  • You’ll also be given an exclusive festival accreditation, which gives priority access to the Giornate degli Autori screenings.
  •  
  • Be a Jury Member for the films competing for the Giornate degli Autori selection
  •  
  • Watch all the films presented at the Giornate degli Autori and at the LUX Prize 2019 Competition.
  • Take part in round tables, discussions and debates with filmmakers and other guests.
  •  
  • Contribute to a blog, which will be specifically developed for this event and to the media partners websites
  •  
  • Write a daily postcard for Europa Cinemas’ social networks
  •  
  • Be an active Ambassador for the Lux Film Prize during the events organised after Venice in your country.

 

*Co-organised by the European Parliament, the LUX Prize, the Giornate degli Autori and Europa Cinemas, 28 Times Cinema aims to promote shared values and cultural diversity through cinema among young people.
