Broadway to welcome director Paul Fegan and Scottish musician Aidan Moffat for a special screening and performance

Cult-pop raconteur Aidan Moffat and director Paul Fegan will be at Broadway, Nottingham on Monday 27 June with their latest documentary, Where You’re Meant To Be.

Aidan Moffat and Paul Fegan will attend a special screening of Where You’re Meant To Be, and will take part in a post-screening conversation with Broadway-based filmmaker, Jeanie Finlay. Aidan Moffat will also perform an acoustic set to round-up the event.

Where You’re Meant To Be is a funny wee film about music and death in which Aidan Moffat sets out to explore Scotland’s past by rewriting and touring its oldest songs – until an encounter with a 79-year-old travelling balladeer named Sheila Stewart throws a spanner in the works.

The screening will take place at Broadway, Nottingham on Monday 27 June, from 8PM. Tickets for the event, which will include the screening, conversation with Aidan Moffat, Paul Fegan and Jeanie Finlay, and a live acoustic performance from Aidan Moffat, cost £10 full price and £8 for members and concessions.

Broadway launches new gallery space and series of workshops

Broadway will launch its new exhibition space and a series of workshops this May, starting with a collaboration with local renowned photographer, Ashley Bird. The space will complement Broadway’s four screens, two Cafebars, and offices for creative professionals.

From Saturday 14 May, the Broadway Gallery will be home to Colour&Light, an exhibition of some of Ashley Bird’s work. The show will feature a selection of colour portraits, including local figures and performers, as well as some live music photos, including the likes of Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, and Rihanna. The exhibition will take place at the Broadway Gallery – a new multi-function space within Broadway.

To complement the exhibition, Ashley Bird will also host a photography workshop on Saturday 21 May at Broadway. ‘Demystifying the DSLR!’ is an entry-level workshop for owners of DSLR, bridge or compact system cameras. The day-long session will be the first in a series of practical workshops at Broadway, including further sessions on photography. The workshops will complement Broadway’s regular film courses by offering more hands-on opportunities to learn.

Broadway is particularly delighted to collaborate with Ashley Bird for this launch, one of many very talented local artists whose work has travelled far beyond our region. He is a former music journalist (and editor of Kerrang! magazine) who has successfully transitioned his career from the written word to photography. Ashley lives in Nottingham and is available for interviews.

Colour&Light will take place at the Broadway Gallery from Saturday 14 May until Friday 20 May. For more information and opening times, please visit www.broadway.org.uk

The Broadway Gallery is at 17 Heathcoat Street, Nottingham, NG1 3AF with access also available from Broadway’s main entrance. For enquiries about Broadway Gallery, please contact Tasha King at t.king@broadway.org.uk

‘Demystifying the DSLR!’ will take place at Broadway on Saturday 21 May from 10.00am until 4.30pm. Tickets (including lunch) are £90 full / £75 members + concessions and is suitable for people aged 18 and over. For more information and to book, please contact the Broadway’s box office on 0115 952 6611 or visit http://www.broadway.org.uk/events/film- demystifying-the-dslr-digital-photography-workshop
