Near Now to continue helping artist development thanks to Arts Council England support

Broadway is proud to announce that it will be supported by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation for a further four years from 2018 to 2022.

Broadway has a long history of working with pioneering artists; funding from Arts Council England ensures that we can continue that tradition through our arts, design and innovation studio, Near Now. The Near Now Fellowship helps artists develop their practice, explore bold ideas and research ambitious new work for audiences in Nottingham the Midlands, nationally and internationally. We support artists with diverse experiences, perspectives and backgrounds, which are essential for innovation to thrive and for new ideas to emerge.

Securing this funding means that we can continue to deliver our public programming and we look forward to seeing many of you at Near Now-hosted workshops, talks, exhibitions, screenings and other events from now until 2022.

Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said:

"Broadway provides a nurturing environment for artists to collaborate, connect and create and we're delighted to be funding them over the next four years. It'll be great to see them continue to deliver their innovative arts and technology programme, as well as engage with new audiences, across the Midlands and beyond."

Lee Nicholls, Creative Producer, Near Now added:

With thanks to Arts Council England’s further support, we look forward to continuing Broadway’s role as a supportive, progressive and inclusive place for artists to realise their ambitions through Near Now. We’re incredibly excited to see what the next four years will bring — a lot can happen in that time, especially within arts and technology.”

Join us at Broadway on Monday 17 July at 6pm as we introduce the latest group of artists to join our Fellowship programme: Rachel Ara, Antonio Roberts and Rachel Briscoe. Learn more about their work and be the first to hear about their ambitions for the rest of the year.
