The Lacemakers: The Forgotten Story of English Lace

The Lacemakers: The Forgotten Story of English Lace U

Director: Edward Jarvis
Origin: United Kingdom

Lace built the city of Nottingham and many of the surrounding towns and villages; it also provided jobs for the men and women who lived there. Yet today this once mighty industry has largely disappeared from the western world. BAFTA nominated filmmaker and award winning journalist Edward Jarvis pieces together the story from what’s left of the industry and its dwindling band of survivors. The film is part of Nottingham Trent University’s Lace: Here and Now season and is narrated by the BAFTA, Tony and three-times Olivier winning actor Robert Lindsay. Edward and Robert both grew up in Ilkeston.

Director Edward Jarvis will take part in a post-screening Q&A session.
