Growing Pains: Representations of Childhood UC

GROWING PAINS: REPRESENTATIONS OF CHILDHOOD IN CINEMA
Duration: 90m
Like all the best adventures, childhood is an intense mixture of wonder, exploration, danger, and discovery. But can cinema ever truly capture the experiences of childhood? And does film successfully reconnect adults to their forgotten inner child? We will explore these questions and others by looking at different aspects of childhood portrayed in a range of films. From the terror of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, via the nostalgia of CINEMA PARADISO, to the wonders of imagination in MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO, rediscover the worlds you thought you'd left behind.
