Broadway

Activities for Schools

Broadway has dedicated education team and we regularly work with schools, colleges and universities. We can help with everything from special screenings and one-off workshops through to long-term strategic projects.

Schools

Broadway has a long and happy relationship with local schools. Often it all starts with a school trip to the cinema – maybe to see a film that ties in with work in the classroom, maybe as a treat.

There’s a lot more we can do to help bring your curriculum to life. Students can learn more about film, or use film as a way to explore other subjects, such as foreign languages. We also organise end-of-year activity days, most recently a horror day for 70 secondary school students.

In September 2011 we are launching an exciting new opportunity for Primary Schools focusing on how film and filmmaking can enhance children's learning across the curriculum and linking directly to the Primary Literacy Framework. You can find out more about this new offer in the section headed 'Primary Schools'.

Nottingham Skillset Media Academy

Broadway’s a member of the Nottingham Skillset Media Academy – a partnership with Nottingham Trent University, New College Nottingham and Confetti Studios. The academy allows students from a wide range of backgrounds to get involved with media education in Nottingham and develop their skills and creativity.

Film Practice MA

We’re very excited about offering a Film Practice MA with Nottingham Trent University. The course allows students to create fiction, documentary and experimental media. It’s open to graduates in any discipline, or people who’ve already worked in the industry. Close ties with filmmakers across the East Midlands mean the course offers relevant, direct insights into professional practice.

We’re proud supporters of the national Learning Outside the Classroom scheme. As a badge holder, we’re recognised as providing high-quality learning activities in a supportive environment.
